When I went to get my driver's license renewed last year I had to have my picture retaken. For most of us, we dread the process and rarely like our picture on our license. This particular trip Blaine got upset b/c they would not take her picture...like that is why they are there. I told her I would check into what the deal was with a state id and it turns out the age is 5 and it only costs $5.00. I told her we would go back to get her state id and I was going to surprise her for her 5th bday. Well since I had never taken her once she turned 5 and was reminded when Missy mentioned she was going to take Jack, I planned it for a summer day trip and went yesterday since we were driving to Anderson anyway. I was surprised that they were not busy...as in I did not even have to take a number, we went straight to the counter. One of the documentations needed besides SS card and birth certificate was proof of residency. For that, you could use school records like a report card. Since Blaine has not officially started public school and only did half a year of Headstart, all I had was her Certificate of Completion, but that was not accepted and meant she could not get her ID, but then they said Medicaid Insurance card and we were just recently approved for that program and I had one for her! To quote Blaine..."whippeee"! We had and enjoyable DMV visit which is a totally opposite from my recent vehicle tag visit!!
