Blaine's 5K Field Trip

Blaine's class went on a field trip last Wednesday to Callaham Orchard. It was fun!! Blaine is going to be one of those children who is excited her parent is coming on the field trip, but it does not show. She sat with her friend Madison on the bus and said if I wanted to I could sit in front of them. Well, at least she let me sit near them!

The orchard has a great set-up. When we arrived we ate ice cream first thing....my kind of trip. Then they loaded up on the wagon to tour the orchard. We learned how the bees pollinate the pumpkins and how to know which blooms become a pumpkin and which do not.

We also were able to see the deer they have on the orchard. I think that was the most exciting and fun part for the kids.

After the wagon ride, the two 5K classes split back into their own class and we had a milking contest. I was really looking forward to my little sweet prissy Blaine to milk a cow, but she wouldn't. Funny, Phoebe skipped this same contest when her class went 2 years ago. We did though talk Madison into competing.

After the milking contest, we moved on to the duck races. This was pretty fun!

After the duck races, we moved on to feeding the goats. They are some corn eating freaks, I bet they would eat all day if you stood there and fed them. After feeding the goats we washed hands. Ok, so washing hands is not THAT exciting, but I really liked their "sink" set-up. They had a long trough and soap in hose hanging down. We need one of those in our yard...it goes with the theme and decor ya know!?!?

On our way back to school, we stopped at a park and ate lunch and played a bit.

It was a fun day, but boy was I pooped when we got home. Thank goodness their are people who like to teach. I don't think I could do it everyday.

Redneckin' It

Phoebe loves to go outside. Bucky loves to cut grass to have some time to himself. Combine the two and you get redneck "bull riding"!! :)

Bucky recently bought the hat to help keep the sun out of his eyes, so as Phoebe drives like she is on a race track, he looks as though he is bull riding because he throws one hand in the air. I wish I had gotten a video to show the full effect.

Catch Up!

Hey! Well, even though my PC was down and I was able to get it back up and running, it is extremely slow so I do not get online as much. I did, though, want to post some pictures and a quick update to catch up on what has happened in the last almost 2 months.

We had a fun trip (one of many) to the waterpark in Greenville, it started out as a family trip as Bucky was getting to come on this trip. Then we found out a good friend, Selise, was coming to town so she met us there.

Later that day, our church had a Sweet Pea Princess Dinner for moms and daughters. We lucked up and was able to have Bucky as a part of this as our server. That was cool to have our whole family attend. And it kept him from whining about not having a father/daughter dinner (even though he has had one of those before and this was my first EVER).

As a back to school treat for the girls, we went to get pedicures. Phoebe got blue nail polish with zebra stripes and Blaine got pink (of course) with a flower. The after thought was "now no one can see our toes" because the girls cannot wear open-toed shoes to school. Oh well, it fun anyway and was a nice treat after all the swimming and toe-scuffing from the pool!!

We hit the consignment that came the weekend prior to these photos and found some great steals. I was able to get about 4 or 5 pair of jeans for each girl for this winter and then several other outfits for about $4 each. The girls modeled their favorites...yes, believe it or not, Phoebe is wearing a dress. She picked this out with no persuasion from me. She has wore it multiple times to school already and it was her outfit for picture day.

The girls are both playing church soccer this year. Blaine is on the 6 & Under team and Phoebe is on the 8 & Under team. They are playing hard and getting some great exercise!! This is Blaine's first game in which the other team was a no-show and we won by forfeit. First game , they are 1 & 0...what a start!!

Their next game was back to back, Blaine first, then Phoebe next...the teams have the same jerseys. Here are few of those with it being Phoebe first game for the season. Not as good a start, but they played hard!!

We took a trip down to Charleston to see Emily at her new "home". She is going to College of Charleston and we were so excited to see her new dorm and her "community". She took us around downtown and spent time with us. We were able to see Selise while we were there too. We had a great time and was so glad that Emily wanted to spend so much time with us...you know the old people... :)

Our wise use of the extra space the girls gained with their new bed. Now they have a place to come home and do homework. Of course, they will most likely have to take turns in the room because I can still see them fussing up there together.
