Friends!

It had been a while since the girls had had friends over. When a say a while, I mean like a couple of months. That's a long while for us!

This is Jada, Blaine, and Bailee. Bailee and Blaine have too been together since they were babies, like a year old I think. Jada is Bailee's younger sister. Their mom was coming with me to a Ladies Night Out at church, which had childcare so Blaine came along to see the girls.

This is Madison, Blaine, Phoebe, and Catrina. Madison and Blaine are in 5K together. How two girls so sassy and bossy ever make it in one class without killing each other I don't know, but they are the best of friends. Phoebe and Catrina are in the same 2nd grade class. Catrina was home schooled until this year. Her mom is very protective of her. It has been a lot of adjustment for Catrina to attend public school. I have been very proud of Phoebe for including Catrina in things with the other girls. At recess she makes sure Catrina is not left out. Sometime Catrina picks Phoebe to go with her when she has her guidance counselor visits. Catrina came to Phoebe's 8th birthday party and spent the night. That was a huge step for Catrina and we were all very proud of her. We try to get them together some outside of school.

We lucked up that the ice cream truck came by while they we out playing. That was a nice treat!

Another Trip to Hagood Mill

We had such a great time at Hagood Mill the first time, we made plans to return the next month while they were having Kid's Fest. This time Buck was able to go with us.

Grammie and Papa met us there with Katie and Caden. They all had a blast together! It is funny how Katie and Phoebe love to play together, but Phoebe tends to pair off with Caden a lot. Blaine and Caden love to play together, but Blaine tends to pair with Katie because she likes to hang out with the "older" girls.

This gentleman and his wife are always there. She whittles canes...he carves figures/faces in wood and whittles spoons. Not only does he make them - he plays them too! Man, was it a hoot watching him teach Grammie and Papa how to play them. Papa laughed a lot. the guy made fun of them which made it even better. I could have stayed there all day listening to him make fun of them for not doing so well! :)

Really? Don't we get enough exposure to these at home? Do we really need to spend time with more of them here?

This guy was making bows.....so of course Buck (and Papa) hung out here quite a while. Blaine found him quite interesting too.
